Description
Are you ready for a taste adventure full of mystery?
All you need is one or more mystery foods, which you’ll have to get your campers to guess using their 5 senses! Guide them through a series of questions (see Tasting Questions in the PDF) to explore the different characteristics of each food.
Ask them:
- “How would you describe this food? Is it colourful, strange, or maybe even funny?”
- “Is it warm and comforting or cool and refreshing?
- “Do you hear a mysterious little sound when you pick it up?
- “Do you like the smell of this food?”
If your campers are at a loss for words, don’t hesitate to refer them to our Sensory Chart (see Appendix 1 Sensory Chart) to enrich their culinary vocabulary.

Goal(s)
This activity aims to introduce campers to the world of food by engaging their senses and fostering a deeper understanding of food characteristics.
Participants are encouraged to describe their sensory experiences, which can help them develop a rich and specific vocabulary related to food. The activity also aims to help young people understand their individual tastes without judgment and encourages them to try new foods.

Required material
- Food(s) that will be used during the tasting, with quantities adjusted to the number of campers
- Paper napkin or plate for each camper
- Printed version of the Five Senses Chart
- Printed version of the Food Evaluation Sheet
- Printed version of the Emotions Sheet
- Knife and cutting board for chopping foods (if needed)
- Scarf or bandana for campers 9 years old and over (up selon le document révisé)
