Description

This tool from the PAUSE Challenge – Summer camps activity kit offers you an activity to help your campers recognize screen-free activities that they like to do.

Before doing the activity, talk with your group about the benefits of doing activities without screens on a regular basis, and then ask your children to think about an activity they like to do without a screen.

Then, place your young people in a circle, form teams if necessary, and nominate a young person who will have to draw or mime an activity that he or she likes to do without a screen. For example, if this young person likes to play soccer, he or she can draw or act a soccer game. The other players will have to try to guesse what activity it is.

Goal(s)

This activity allows young people to open a dialogue about the activities they like to do without a screen. This raises awareness among young people and makes them aware that they’re more activities without technology that are enjoyable than they think!

Tips and Tricks

If you wish to make the game even more dynamic, you can separate your youngsters into two teams and have all your youngsters draw or mime and make their team guess it. The first team that manages to guess all the activities proposed by its players wins the game!

Required material

  • Paper (about 1 per young person)
  • Pencils

Let’s have a chat!

Here are subjects to discuss with your campers before and after the activity. Ask them questions to see what they learnt.

  • What activities do you like to do without a screen?
  • Are there good and bad times to use screens?
  • Do you know how much screen time you spend a day?
