Description

Do you want to get your kids to learn more about healthy eating, but you don’t have real food on hand? No problem, the Colourful Circuit is the ideal activity to get your young people to be active while inventing recipes.

In this activity, young people are invited to take on challenges to collect fruit and vegetable cards and then create original recipes as a team at the very end.

Start by setting up the different stations and separating your youngsters into 2 equal teams. You can then explain the purpose of the 6 stations to your group, for example at station 1 you have to throw the ball into the garbage can. When you’ve succeeded, draw a random card and run to the next station. At the signal, one member of each team must go to the first station, do their challenge, collect their card and so on. While the young people wait in line, they must jog on the spot. At the 6th station, each team must create recipes with all the cards collected and present them to the group.

Goal(s)

This activity allows you to be active and develop motor skills by completing challenges. It also allows young people to discover new foods to develop their knowledge of healthy eating.

Tips and tricks

It’s okay if your young people invent recipes that look more or less appetizing or that doesn’t exist! The goal is to use all foods creatively and logically.

Let’s have a chat!

Here are subjects to discuss with your campers before and after the activity. Ask them questions to see what they learnt.

  • What did you learn ?
  • Did you know that there is such a wide variety of fruits and vegetables?
  • Can you name any other fruits and vegetables?
  • What are the differences between all these fruits and vegetables (color, shape, texture, etc.)?
  • What fruit or vegetable would you like to taste?
